Asmi and Ramdevi, bohini and didi
Kathmandu, June 18th, 2011
I stopped by a house where I had taken a family photo in the past. While Ramdevi (above in red) filled me in on some of the names that I hadn't gotten those many years ago, she herself is not in the older photo (which can be seen below).

Asmi and Ramdevi’s family, back in 2005 (or 2003). I believe that is Asmi in the pink.
Nisha dances
Kathmandu, May 21st, 2011
My first visit back to Niharika Shishu Kunja High School, I discovered they were putting on a dance exhibition the following day. Over thirty students of varied ages performed beautiful dances, both traditional as well as Bollywood-style.
Nisha was one of the especially brave students who took her place in front of her entire school and danced alone.

Babu in a shop
Kathmandu, May 2011
Each day I pass this small shop, a storefront built much like a garage—complete with a metal shutter to draw down at closing. This day, the shopkeepers son [babu means young boy] stands on the counter and we exchange spirited hellos.

Sisti
Betrawati, 2000 or 2002
Sitting on a bag of rice on top of a full TATA bus, I passed a building where Sisti bahini was looking out the second-story doorway.

Sisti with her brother and mother.
I believe that Sisti’s family runs a fabric shop in town, just south of the bridge.

Boy in a tea shop
Kathmandu, January 2003
I believe I was looking for the Shree Ganesh Himal Boarding School, when I stopped in this tea shop to ask for directions. This young boy worked there, the proprietor’s son I think.
