Sarada and Nirmala

October 01, 2015 by Teacher Jack in Kathmandu Nepal

Sarada and Nirmala
Niharika Shishu Kunja High School, Balaju Bypass, Kathmandu, Tuesday, September 29th, 2015

Sarada teaches the Nursury class at Niharika, while Nirmala moves from class to class as needed. I was talking to them about taking their photo together, but they needed a little convincing.
I really like the smiles in the candid "convincing" shot that I got (above).

Anish with her hajurama
Manamaiju, Kathmandu, Saturday, September 26th, 2015

Outside of Sabina’s house, I ran into Anish with her hajurama [grandmother] Gunmaya.
I think Anish wasn't quite sure what to make of me.

Ganesh
Dadagaun, Kathmandu, Saturday, September 26th, 2015

I met Ganesh while I was delivering a photo to his wife Anjana.
Ganesh works as a bus driver for one of the international schools on Manamaiju Marg.
Being Saturday, it was his day off and he was in the process of fixing the motorcycle seen in the photo.

Ayusa and her mother

September 22, 2015 by Teacher Jack in Kathmandu Nepal

Ayusa and her mother
Balaju, Kathmandu, Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015

I was in the barbershop of Ayusa’s parents this afternoon getting my hair cut.
Ayusa, was playing on the weathered wooden chair by the door.
Her mother was close at hand, talking to her and lovingly tussling her hair.

If you would like to help people like Ayusa and her family,
you can donate to Mercy Corps’ Nepal Earthquake fund here

Sobita

September 21, 2015 by Teacher Jack in Kathmandu Nepal

Sobita
Kathmandu, Monday, September 21st, 2015

My friend Sobita holding her families' new puppy, Bhotu (which means muscular or strong). Sobita is a teacher in a "lower secondary" school (which means that her students are children in grades 5–8). Sobita is quick to a smile and a laugh, and she and her husband have three lovely children with the same great quality.

Every time I try to showcase my Nepali dance moves to Sobita's family, this is the kind of response I get.
